sea.sound project is an iniciative of Cristina Yang Jaguaribe Ekman aka kiki jaguaribe, located at São Paulo, Brasil. kiki works with computer since 1987, as a programmer at first, then later as artist. She has been pictured at "Jonas in the desert" movie, by Peter Sempel, as herself. Also inspired a cartoon caracter "Kiki" by Adão Iturrusgaray.
She has studied at FAU_USP, Architecture and Urbanism and also Intermedia and Multimedia at ECA_USP, Arts and Comunication. Worked as programmer, artists agent, visual designer, objects and jewellery designer and stonecutter, set designer, art director, sculptor, painter, ilustrator, teacher, poet and music lyrics writer and singer, moviemaker, and works now with conceptual art on collaborative intermedia projects with interactive multimedia.
PIKSEL 8 PROPOSAL 2008 ----------------------- open call
This is an open call to collaborate with sea.sound project at piksel 8 international festival, we are gonna be remote participating at abstract code subsection (Cristina Ekman (BR)) , everyone is invited to collaborate, all you have to do is to record your own voice saying in your natural language the words "There is a sea inside me" and save it with name for credit and location (for example kiki-brasil), you may send it to sea.sound@gmail.com or create an id and join for free the sea.sound group at multiply free blog (http://seasound.multiply.com) and upload it there by yourself (it is just a normal network free service that we used to upload the data received so far). Also, you may send us any images and sounds related to this idea of inner sea. Join us! show your work to the world! Piksel is a big and very important international festival, we have the honnor to get the chance to participate this year, and I hope that you will be interested to collaborate... This door is opened! An iniciative of Cristina Yang Jaguaribe Ekman aka kiki jaguaribe located at São Paulo - BR This is an attempt of inclusion and memory. Also, it is a call for environmental and social awareness. With global warming, natural resources issues and disasters that have been happening lately, it takes even more important proportion, and invokes everyone to think about the poem. For each collaborator, those words "There is a sea inside me" has a different meaning and interpretation, experiences in time and space, bad or nice impression in mind, besides theyr unique voices, language, culture, location, mood and ways to express it. But we all have this inner sea. Generating life and oxygen that we breath, connecting us, recalling old childhood memories, waves of thoughts and feelings, people that crossed the ocean and spread ideas, information, knowledge, or even genes, a soul such as my own daughter: Her dad is from UK, my mum is from China, and my great-grandfather came long ago from Sweden to Brazil. Now with Internet, this global device of communication and sharing, and its growing networks, it’s crossing the ocean and land in light speed for us all to be able to get connected. Gaia is our spaceship, it’s alive, and we are all part of it. Let’s collaborate.
