Maíra Sala graduated in cinema at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro, her hometown. She has worked for a few years in the movie business in Rio, having collaborated in feature and short films as production manager, costume designer and art director. She directed the short film Desgostosa (“Displeased”) and a few videos.
Recently Maíra changed radically her career by graduating with honor at the Digital Arts Master at the Pompeu Fabra University, in Barcelona, Spain. In this course she had the opportunity to know and be seduced by the art and technology universe and the possibilities of art oriented programming.
Nowadays Maíra consider herself as a blossoming artist-programmer, working mostly with Flash, Processing and Pure Data. She is currenlty working as a freelance flash coder in Barcelona. Engranaje is the result of the union between her previous career and her new interests.
