Ricard Marxer has studied philosophy and logic as well as seven years of saxophone and music theory. He has lived in several countries including Spain, France, the United States, and Australia, which has stimulated his great interest in the field of language and typography. Currently he is studying for his doctorate in Music and Neurocomputing at the Music Technology Group at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona. He is a Telecommunication Engineer and has a Master Degree in Digital Art.
He has been assistant professor of the Computacion para Artistas (2006) and Visualizar (2007) workshops at Medialab, Madrid. Additionally he has been a teacher of the Digital Arts Master at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona and a tutor for the Master in Interaction Design at Elisava, Barcelona (2008).
Additionally his work has been featured in the following conferences and festivals: OFFF Bareclona 2006, Siggraph Boston 2006, COMO Story Seoul 2007, TYPO Berlin 2007, C-Stem Turin 2007 and Type Directors Club Tokyo Annual Prize 2007.
Finally he has always had a strong commitment on Free Software by publishing all his projects using Free licenses and developing on Free Software platforms.
