Tim Vets studied Jazz guitar at the Antwerp Conservatory of Music, where he also studied composition. As a guitarist he worked amongst others with The Flemish Radio Orchestra, Prometheus Ensemble, and the European Broadcast Union Jazz Orchestra. In 1999 he won the Internationaal Composition Concours of Helmond with his own quartet. He appears as soloist in Stacked Time on the CD Symphonic Works by Luc Van Hove. In his own music he combines contemporary jazz influences with live electronics and post-tonal composition techniques. He wrote music for several theatre pieces, in wich he frequently places traditional instrumentations in a confrontation with electronica. In his installations he investigates the tension between aesthetic and constructive principles that are active in music as well as the visual arts.
