Bio:

 Dutch audiovisual artist, currently based in the UK. She builds her own digital instruments in which sound and image are of equal importance, created simultaneously, influencing and distorting each other. Currently she is collaborating with French artist Aymeric Mansoux on Metabiosis, a project investigating the ups and downs of datapackets living in a world of connected ecosystems. Marloes is part of the Digital Research Unit at the University of Huddersfield.

Statement:

 d_u_w is an audiovisual performance exploring L-systems as score for sound and image. L-systems are a mathematical formalism proposed by biologist Aristid Lindenmayer in 1968 as a foundation for an axiomatic theory of biological development. d_u_w starts with a single seed and a set of rules that define how to grow from that seed.
