DataDada, version <aldkjallkdjsfa>, is an application that will turn the stored data on your hard drive into a movie complete with sound, image, and subtitles. Essentially, it reads all the data on the disk (or, optionally, only specific directories), and writes the data to your computer's sound card and video display. Additionally, it will display the name of the file being read as a human-understandable subtitle. It uses portaudio for cross-platform audio and the Simple DirectMedia? Layer for cross-platform video.

For piksel.no: DataDada is a very simple piece of software that plays the files on your disk as if they were raw audio/video data. I would like to propose a short performance for the festival in which I play the data from various operating systems, looping and delaying the signal at interesting points, for an aesthetic interpretation of the raw data. Additionally, since the filenames of the operating systems are displayed on screen, one should get and visual and acoustic overview of what each OS "looks" and "sounds" like.
