Gmerlin Audio Video Decoder

During this year, a lot of work has been done on the Gmerlin Audio Video Decoder, by its project leader and main programmer Burkhard Plaum, while the community, consisting of programmers around the "Lumiera" and "Open Movie Editor" Projects provided feedback, discussion, suggestions and testing.

Due to this efforts, the Gmerlin Project gained a massive amount of functionality, especially in dealing with High Definition Footage in its native formats. As far as I know, this kind of functionality is not found in any other Free and Open Source Video Software Framework.

Additionally it features a very clean, simple and easy to use Programming Interface, that will please every programmer that already struggled with ffmpeg and gstreamer programming.

I would like to give a talk, introducing Gmerlin, and explaining how it could benefit projects that want to work with High Definition Video Formats, and other "Professional" video formats. Additionally I will explain and highlight the good usability that should open video programming to a much wider range of programmers, which so far were unable to cope with the complexity exposed in other software frameworks.

Gmerlin has actually much more features and potential, which I will point out as well.

Gmerlin is a really great project, and I think that the pikslers will sure like it, and I above all, I'd really like to spread the word about it, because I feel as such a fine project it deserves much greater use and exposure than it currently has. :-)
