changed: - Mirra is a free 2D graphics Python library focused on interaction. Mirra uses pygame(SDL) and PyOpenGL for graphics, simpleOSC python module to communicate to sound engines like Supercollider or PureData and wxPython for the creating of conventional GUI elements. The long term goal is to create a replacement to proprietary multimedia software such as Flash or Director, while using easy to use scripting language such as Python. This environment could be used by artists or companies to produce work as well as educational institutions to teach programing to designers or/and artists. Currently Mirra can be considered as a fully working prototype that in the future could be optimised by porting some areas to C as python extensions. ixi-software produced in the past (< 2003) non free software by using proprietary tools such as Director. Since then we commited to use/produce free software, this is why we started developing Mirra and made it available for others under a LGLP license. We are currently working on parellel development of Mirra and some new ixi applications: devel.goto10.org/svn/ixi/python/slicer devel.goto10.org/svn/ixi/python/circles Recently we started developping and mantaining on a module for PureDyne that would include mirra and the ixi applications constructed with it. Presenting Mirra at Piksel seems to us like a great opportunity to find people interested on Mirra and the development of a free alternative to the propietary software mentioned above.
