PixelACHE is a festival for electronic art and subcultures. PixelACHE presents projects experimenting with media and technology from a broad range of disciplines: artists, engineers, designers, researchers and architects. PixelACHE focuses on 'electronic subcultures': international grassroot networks such as VJ community, media activists and independent media initiatives, demo scene and open source community. The goal of PixelACHE Festival is to act as a bridge between the traditional creative disciplines and rapidly developing new subcultures. The main PixelACHE event in held annually in Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki but the festival travels to other destinations as well - so far we have visited Stockholm, New York and Montreal.
PixelACHE will be held in Paris for the first time in spring 2006. The event is titled Mal au Pixel and is a joined effort of several cultural organisations: Mains d'Œuvres, Confluences, Ars Longa and Institut Finlandais. Mal au Pixel will take place between 19-30 April, two weeks after the PikseliÄHKY event in Helsinki (30 March-2 April). The theme for both events is Dot Org Boom, the recent rapid growth of grassroot media and technology development. The essential ingredients of the Dot Org Boom are open source community, open content initiatives, media activist networks and myriads of NGOs? around the world.
PixelACHE and Mal au Pixel feature seminars, workshops, audiovisual performances, club events, exhibitions and various other activities which will spread throughout the month of April 2006.

PixelACHE has invited Isabelle Arvers to put together a program section for PikseliÄHKY and Mal au Pixel events, starting from the gaming projects of Piksel05 and bringing in additional content from Finland, France and beyond. Isabelle Arvers is a french new media curator, specializing in video and computer games, web animation and digital cinema.
