I am kiki jaguaribe, from brasil.
I am remote participating at the abstract code subsection on the event that will take place tomorow night at raw (http://xname.cc/catacstrobe ----------------- 7 december from midnight to dawn)
I run sea.sound project - for now it is just a databank blog where i propose random people to send me files with their own voices recorded or whatever they want to send to the blog related to the poem "There is a sea inside me" - "EXISTE UM MAR DENTRO DE MIM" - it is an enviromental collaborative poem by intermedia on interactive multimedia proposal.
There are several purposes of presentation that i develop every year, the next one is gonna be a random-code multimedia trigged based on the result of a set of 20 or so steps of "the game of life" generated by the shadow of a nude model or the public itself projected on a interactive grid (i will present this to any contexts that i will have the oportunity to inscribe me - if anyone is interested to collaborate with me on this project with technical support and intelectual contribution or if you have any critics or sugestions i will apreciate it).
The format of presentation that i sugest for each presentation would be any that can happen depending on the place where it is gonna be presented, as a result of the intervention of the local artists interested on it. Unfortunately, i wont be there locally this time. So far, almost all data that is on the blog i have colected myself, peer to peer, talking to all those people about the idea of collaboration, about the idea of enviromental preservation, about the idea of us all belonging to one same world, about the iadea to let other people to interfere on theyr work, about the idea of a sea of voices, waves of thoughts and ideas, waves of feelings, waves in movement, waves of sounds, waves of our childhood memories, waves of the ocean itself.
It took me five years to collect those data, it might look just a few files, and it is, really, just a few voices, a few people, but you will find, for example, voices that i have colected myself from children inside a favela, children with no access to internet, children that sometimes wishes to eat a banana but cannot, coming around me and asking me to be the next one to have their voice recorded and memorized, and the drugdealers asking me to give them my cellphone, that not on this day but at one point of my work it has ended being stolen.
Also you will find voices from people on a psychiatric clinic that i have been into, not only disturbed minded people, but also doctors and nurses and psicologists. You will find voices in dead persian languages that only some poets from uzbequistan still can speak, and the guy who had the effort to collect those samples for sea.sound project has told me that the tradition on his country used to be on the past to get together around a fire at night and declame poetry, on those languages that are not spoken anymore.
The logo of the project is a graphic image that has been sent by an astrophisics phd, generated by an equipment that he uses at the observatory to measure waves coming from the space and with this he measured the sound waves at the databank. He works on researchs looking for hexoplanets.
You will find many diferent accents in english language, from diferent parts of the world, this language that has been adopted at internet and its loosing its nuances, as maybe piksel is loosing his hackers nuances, as it has been said at the email i have received from Richard Spindler:

I speak out as one of the Hackers I guess, and I have to disagree. Ok, I've not been with piksel from the start, but as I have experienced it, I think that the artistic aspects are very much what draws me to piksel, and this is also the spirit that I miss at so many "hacker-centric" events. For me, even if I strictly work on "hacker" stuff, feel much more liberated to think and talk about radical, revolutionary and disruptive ideas.
Also I think that the lines between hackers and artists blur at piksel, and this is how things should be...."
Well, also you will find at my blog a live presentation video from a group i belong called Coletivo Virtual, at FILE festival, where they downloaded live some voices and other loops and images and generated a live p.a., and a beatbox, a distorted childvoice rmx by simone, brasilian indian song, and other sorts of things.
Maybe noone will be interested to collaborate anymore, i do not know, i have sent loads of emails, i have published about piksel on a bunch of other blogs, and tomorrow my daughter will have a presentation at school (she will perform and sing), then later i will give a workshop called "exploring the infinite" (where i will invite people to cut a moebius string made of strips of old newspaper) on an event called "FREE ART FEST - IT´S YOURS - TAKE IT" - The idea is that each artist will distribute theyr work for free (paintings- sculptures- graffity- hip-hop n other music concerts) , and then at night i will come to the computer and try to upload the material that i may receive and stay up online till dawn.
I am writing this messsage to ask for you all to at least record your own voices and send it for sea.sound, because my proposal has no meaning at all without the collaboration of other people. I believe that it is possible to create a space to share and collaborate, to promote contribution, to promote free downloads and interference, to have the chance to talk to people far from us, people from diferent cultures and from the other side of the sea, even if we do not have the knowledgment that would be the most apropriated, even with a simple blog, maybe even with a naive atemtptive, well, i have done my effort, i apreciate piksel 8 crew to give me the oportunity to get in touch with people like you all, so talented that i felt shy.
But here i am, with an idea and a blog. And i am asking for your collaboration. I hope to hear your voices on catacstrobe night... or watever you think it´s related to this idea of inner sea.
Please help me to spread those words...
